How to effectively counter/block knee strikes?

Knee strikes are powerful, but have extremely short range. My first choice is to evade by stepping back just enough. My second option is to use my own leg to block. Also, in certain situations, you can block the side of the striking knee and spin the attacker on his planted foot, so that his strike goes wide. I use a pressing block for that.
